REAL PATISSERIE CELEBRATE 21 YEARS AT THE TOP

The Sussex Splendour team recently visited Real patisserie at their St Georges Road shop, to celebrate its 21st Birthday. Nestled within the hustle and bustle of Brighton's uber chic Kemptown, Real Patisserie is renowned for it's artisan bread, especially notorious best seller 'Chewy Brown', plus their authentic French patisseries.

Owner, Alistair Gourlay opened his first shop in 1998, since then five more shops have been added. The blueprint for each shop is simply to showcase the baking with an open plan area, they want people to see how the bread is made. Whilst each site has its own unique style, the recipes are shared and carefully curated into the Real Patisserie cookbook, which is available to buy

As a Sussex resident and patisserie enthusiast, I have come across Real Patisserie before, I have heard only great things about their seasonal approach to baking, and their priority to use sustainable products. Everything is ethically sourced, so with that in mind I was extremely excited to be invited.

On arrival we were treated to an utterly delicious array of freshly baked savouries and delightful patisseries such as miniature mozzarella, rocket and artichoke brioche buns, chocolate eclairs and Lemon and blueberry tarts. The food was sensational, the flavours burst in your mouth, the whole canape menu was faultless whilst being washed down gloriously with prosecco.

An innovative collaboration with Boho Gelato made for interesting conversation, they made the most astonishing flavour of ice cream using Real Patisseries Strawberry and Pistachio tart. It was an absolute knock out. The showstopper of the evening had to be the birthday cake itself, it was simply stunning. Alas I did not get to try it, although that is probably a good thing as the diet would have dived out the window.

Whilst the party was in full flow, there were teams of party goers in the bakery effortlessly making brightly coloured macaroons, it was such a fun way to get people involved.

I thoroughly enjoyed the evening, it was such a wonderful party. Happy Birthday Real Patisserie, here's to many more!!
