BANK HOLIDAY BRUNCH IN THE HEADY HEIGHTS OF THE LOFT
Who knew that Arundel would be the place that specialises in lavish brunches?! More and more restaurants are offering intriguing and exciting brunch menus - diners have more of a choice these days. Long gone are the artery clogging breakfasts of the 90's, they make way for avocado on toast, eggs benedict, bottomless options with either prossecco or bloody marys and health conscious full English breakfasts starring homemade baked beans, with local bacon cooked only in virgin coconut oil. Us millennials really do expect restaurants to go the extra mile these days.
That is where The Loft comes in. Hidden on the third floor of the amazing shop that is Sparks Yard in Arundel, this fine eatery really is a showstopper. If modern healthy food is what you are after then look no further for the perfect brunch.
After exiting the lift (yes - this place is pushchair friendly), the welcoming staff showed us to our table. The view out of the window was satisfying as it showed the morning sun beating down over the Arundel skyline, the setting is hugely enjoyable. The decor is warm and airy, painted in white with beautiful blue hues reminiscent of holidays in Greece. There was a general buzz of chatting diners which added to the atmospheric backdrop.
The menu is exciting and fresh, it offers all the favourites and is diverse enough for everyone to find something that they will simply love. There are endless options for drinks, plus they also settle you down with a large bottle of water on the table.
Our breakfasts arrived, I chose avocado on toast (it is a personal favourite of mine), the flavours were amazing. It consisted of avocado smashed with sweetcorn on the most amazing bread and roasted baby vine tomatoes that were so succulent just like they cook them in Italy.
My partners chose The Works, this is almost certainly the most sophisticated full English that I have ever seen. Beautifully presented, the beans are like I said, homemade, the bacon, poached eggs, potatoes and mushrooms have no sign of grease about them, plus its all topped off with watercress and those amazing roasted vine tomatoes that I have already been so keen to shout about.
The loft scores top marks for service and cruially, the food is excellent. I would definitely recommend brunch, whether it be for a special occassion or that Saturday is simply special reason enough.
I am aware that The Loft also offers amazing themed dining events, the next I am told is a lobster night on 9th June. Definitely worth a look.
