SKN-RG WAVE TECHNOLOGY LAUNCH: REJUVENATING THE FACIAL
Until last week, I thought that I knew a thing or two about beauty products. It turns out that I knew nothing. For years my head has been turned by premium products that cost a fortune and are endorsed by the likes of Victoria Beckham. Well, I admit that I have been very naive and not savvy in what went on my skin. I was totally sucked in by what these brands put out into the media, when I should have been more careful not to follow the crowds. Note that now I have been educated about the ingredients that supposedly go into these creams etc, I am kicking myself!
My awakening started last Monday, when I was invited to the launch of SKN-RG at Careys Manor Hotel in Brockenhurst. Not one to refuse a day out testing beauty products, and in the New Forest as well, this was a win double in my eyes. Careys Manor is a world class spa, renowned for its green ethos and after arriving in the very glamourous SenSpa reception, I was ushered to the restaurant to meet Senspa Director Lina Lotto and Deborah Scott, owner and founder of the divine SKN-RG range.
Deborah started out as a scientist, studying ecology in the marshes of Suffolk. It was here that she had her epiphany. Knee deep in mud and nature, Deborah realised that the Seaweed they had been wading through day after day had a youthful effect on her skin. Putting two and two together, Deborah realised that she was on to something. A keen environmentalist and Vegan, Deborah had found a gap in the market. For the next ten years, and in a homemade laboratory on her land, Deborah went about researching plants and the effects that frequency has on them. In the quest to make the best organic, vegan face creams possible. Even the packaging is fully recyclable, a nod to the brands green ethics. These days, unbeknown to most, if products state that they are natural or organic, that doesn’t necessarily mean a thing. It needs to be signed off by the Soil Association and the Vegan Society to really gain gravitas, and SKN-RG has done just that.
I am told that SKN-RG Facials practice different elements from yoga, Pilates, acupressure, Buddhist meditation and massage. With the effect bringing balance and harmony to the body’s life force, whilst maintaining a rejuvenating effect on the skin. Are you keeping up with me so far?! The cutting-edge processes guarantee to reduce the key protein responsible for the ageing process. Well, by this point I am totally sold and dying to try the treatment. For me, the idea that something completely natural can have the same effect as Botox is a real victory.
When Lina decided that the SKN-RG brand was perfect for SenSpa, Deborah and Lina went about perfecting the collaboration in a way never seen before. Whilst the SKN-RG products already speak for themselves, Deborah was keen to offer something totally unique, so she threw herself into creating the pioneering Quanta Wave Technology Facial.
As we sit down and chat over the most amazing Avocado on toast, I still can’t work out whether Debs is an incredible genius or a mad scientist. That is not me being rude, I only say that as the new pioneering Quanta Wave Technology that she has founded with her husband Robert, sounds way out there, amazing… but way out there. Think frequency, Seaweed, tuning forks, Crystals, Chakras and Buddhist massage techniques. Sounds crazy right?! Well after digesting the basics, I have to say that I am looking forward to the treatment. I am always up for the unusual and this promises to be just that.
We continued the day with a tour of SenSpa, which offers some beautiful treatments and includes a hydrotherapy pool, a Rhassoul mud room, herbal sauna and a crystal steam room. The facilities are amazing, and we were lucky enough to have a little relaxation time to try out the hydrotherapy pool.
The day raced by and before I knew it, we were meeting for lunch in the Zen Garden restaurant, to succumb to the best Thai food that I have tried this side of Bangkok. I couldn’t resist a Thai Green Curry, and whilst I am meant to be dieting for the party season, I finished off the meal with a warm Coconut and Banana pudding. I know, straight to the hips and all that!
After lunch, I was one of the first to have a treatment. I was introduced to head therapist Tina, who was incredibly warm and straight away put my mind at ease. Tina had previously had extensive one on one training with Deborah, to ensure that the clients receive a wonderfully unique treatment. We arrived at the therapy room and I have to say that I wasn’t disappointed, I could see all the ‘out there’ instruments that we had spoken about earlier, laid out and ready to use. There were beautiful large Crystals to my left on a self-cleansing shelf, tuning forks, quartz crystal wands and Jade masks. I was asked to lie on the bed, within seconds this beautiful sound of Buddhist Monks chanting filled the space. At this point Tina placed the three crystals at each of the main chakras, one at top of my head, one on my stomach and finally one at my feet. The crystals are very special and were made by Deborah specifically for this treatment.
Next, Tina bangs two tuning forks and gently touches my feet, she then repeats the process, each time the tuning forks touch various parts of the body, sending vibrations through my body and ending at the head. Now comes the bit that I have been waiting for…. the products! These all glide on beautifully, without any sticky residue and whilst maintaining the feel of a premium brand. I am advised that Tina will be using the Advanced Collection today, starting with SKN-RG Flash Balm, and moving through all the products, such as Cleansing Melt, Cellular Revitalising Toner, Advanced Cellular Renewal Exfoliant Treatment, Advanced Miracle Mask, Brightening Moisturiser, Ultra Marine Collagen Night Cream and Advance Eye Elixir. All the products are completely natural and smell divine.
I must confess that during the facial, after Tina had put the calming Jade eye mask on, I fell asleep - briefly, I might add. However, I cannot remember a time that I have ever felt so relaxed. This was then enhanced by using the tuning forks for a second time, yet this time the vibrations were more prominent as my chakras were cleansed. Lastly Tina used the cleansing quartz crystal wands and finished off with a relaxing head massage that was nothing short of superb. The whole treatment left my skin looking brighter and feeling tight in a way that no other facial has.
As the day ended, I was given an amazing array of products that were used during the facial. I have since been using them for over a week and in that time the appearance of my skin is smoother, the redness is noticeably better, and my lines and pores seem to be fading. I guess you could say that I now have a natural glow.
Would I recommend the products and the treatment? In a heartbeat! Yes, the treatment is unusual, but that just adds to its uniqueness. Could it be that Deborah has created one of the best treatments on the market? I’d like to think so. I don’t think there is anything like it to compare it too. SKN-RG is a brand to watch, it feels indulgent, it over performs and is inexpensive compared to other premium brands on the market!
The treatment costs £115 and last approx 90 mins
